Fantastic pairing, daltonista. Patience is a virtue.

Thanks, all!
ttkoo wrote that "Patience is a virtue." Had to laugh, because when I was a kid, my siblings called this collecting thing a chromosomal defect! For instance: "Who in their right mind could give a [bleep] about mintmarks?"

Very nice tokens - well done! I used to live not far from Frome, so if I saw those at an auction I would be tempted to bid. By the way Frome is pronounced "froom" in case any of you are ever close enough to meet a local. "Patience is a virtue" always brings to mind the little rhyme my grandmother often quoted: Patience is a Virtue, Virtue is a Grace, Grace is a little girl who wouldn't wash her face!

Yes, I am sure it has been done at other times, but there are lots of different die numbers on Victorian shillings and sixpences from 1864 to 1879. Not all examples have a die number in this period, and not all die numbers are represented in any given year. ESC records die numbers up to 155 on a shilling (in 1872) and 124 on a sixpence (in 1873). There are people who are trying to collect all the possible die numbers!

My latest purchases are a couple of George Frederick Handel halfpennies from Middlesex DH-1021 & DH-1023. Both from 1791 and the main difference is the bottom of the obverse the G.F. Handel is curved or straight, there are obviously some other recutting differences in the portraits, and fonts. I figured they would go well with my other Handel halfpennies from Warwickshire, Coventry. Only one more Handel halfpenny to find and purchase before I have a complete set of Handel type coins from the halfpenny/Conder era.
