NumisEd - Sweet Conder! It's the only one I need to have a complete G.F. Handel D&H type set. I have missed out on a few, because they sold for more than I was willing to pay for the grade. Your example is a beauty, and around the minimum quality I'd want to acquire. I had made an offer that was rejected on your coin, however, it looks like you beat me to it! I couldn't pay/offer anymore as I had shot my budget for the month. Still need the DH-1022 and 8 more #5 Handel reverses in the Kempson DH-256 to DH-302 set for a total and complete Handel set. I did grab the Middlesex DH-1021 & 1023 which I may have posted here previously. But if not here they are, both PCGS.

westcoin, I didn't know you collected Händel tokens too and are assembling a complete set thereof. How many tokens are in that set and what are the D&H numbers? I might want to complete that set as well.

jbuck, yep all those were ones I either passed on getting or didn't bid enough, and lost out on. Quote: NumisEd:westcoin, I didn't know you collected Händel tokens too and are assembling a complete set thereof. How many tokens are in that set and what are the D&H numbers? I might want to complete that set as well. There are a few: at least 32 of them... a couple more if you include the other metal strikes. Middlesex:DH-300 - also struck in brass DH-1021 DH-1022 DH-1023 - also struck in brass Norfolk: (only about 4 dozen struck) DH-34, 34a (more hair), 34a also struck in silver DH-35 (less hair) Warwickshire (Coventry), all are the same #5 reverse from Norfolk 35: DH-258 DH-260 DH-263 DH-266, 266a DH-268 DH-270 DH-273, 273a DH-275 DH-278, 278a DH-281 DH-283 DH-285, 285a DH-287 DH-290, 290a DH-292 DH-294 DH-296 DH-298 DH-302, 302a The DH-XXa are just edge varieties plain or "Coventry Token" the Norfolk "a" is plain edge. After writing this one up I forgot I still need the Norfolk ones as well, I have quite a few want lists out at various dealers, some say they are hard to get others say they regularly come across them, I haven't seen any offers from them - yet. I can understand why, with under 50 struck. From D&H Book pg. 186 on the Norwich examplesQuote: A Private Token—Hardingham, a musician—has on the obverse a view of Norwich Cathedral; the reverse being the bust of Handel. Of these about four dozen were struck, some with lettered edge, some plain. A very rare variety has the reverse from a die on which the hair is some distance from the ear; there are also other distinctive marks; it is this variety that occurs with the "Coventry Buildings." P.S. I'm writing this up for a future Conder Token Collectors Club Journal article now. A lot more information and my journey collecting these is included in that. So if you are a CTCC member look for it in an upcoming issue. If you're not a current member then why not join up? It's only $10 until 2 issues get published or $5 if you are a YN. https://ctcc.info/

Just reviewing the last couple of weeks in this topic, it appears August is off to a great start! Beautiful coins and medals -- keep them coming, everyone!

Believe it or not I have a good few coins from jersey. Many different denoms from Edward VII onwards but I have never had one from Queen Victoria's reign. Mainly because 95% of them are low -mid grade. I saw this one and it was for no money really so it's now part of the collection. You could probably collect the whole set at a substantially lower premium than most Coins of the UK . 1877H 1/12th of a Shilling Bronze 9.15g 30.5mm. 240k mintage

Superb Elizabeth I sixpence, Dr Bunny! Great observe details! zookeeperz - I agree with you about Channel Islands coins. They are definitely under-appreciated even in the UK. I've purchased quite a number very cheaply, even late 19th- and early 20th-century ones with mint lustre. Despite their low mintages they are quite modestly priced.

Not strictly coins, but hopefully these are of interest here. A couple of Handsome Highland Society Medals picked up today, both for Alexander Birss in the village of Birse. The 1865 medal for best kept cottage is 44mm, the 1870 for third best kept cottage is 29mm. One wonders what went awry with his house management in 5 years?
