Zoo. I cant tell from the picture ,i am surprised that the width of a high tide is different as they seem to be struck from one REV die ,although that may well of been re-cut. The line you have put on to help obscures the view. Having studied the 1897 penny and never seen a difference in the position of the number one ,can you confirm please or put up larger pictures of just the dates without the line as the 8/9 & 7 are the same ,the high tide are all the narrowest date.Although the same date can be found on the standard penny aswell ,but much scarcer. As in Gouby all 1897 High tide should be 9-5 teeth.

Ignore me. Was a shadow . I looked at both close up which is what I normally do. I should know better than to make a judgement call from a prelim picture. Both are 9.5 teeth. Thanks Pete for Kicking me back in to professional mode lol

Top down pictures never flatter coins you will never capture the lustre and the coin always looks flat. Worse on this series as they were for the most part up until 1923 very weakly struck. Premiums well above book value are paid for 6 complete lions. Nice coin

Quote: I bought this coin maybe 1-2 years ago and scanned it recently. Then I noticed I had the photos provided by the seller. I thought it would be interesting to juxtapose them. I think the seller used lighting and angle to make the coin look much nicer than it really is. The sellers coins are also much smaller files. Interesting comparison. Most definitely more attractive in the seller photos, but I still like him even in yours.
