Nice coin and scarcer than given credit for. Hugely undervalued by the catalogues.Anything above EF is challenging. George V 1932 .500 Silver Half Crown. It's actually nicer in hand as they always are. George V had a terrible head of hair from a design point of view. The slightest wear on the die renders him almost bald. Invariably under graded most of the time. This has a nice uniform cartwheel lustre. What ever wear is miniscule. Solid GEF for me.

Another relatively scarce variety. Although I searched for a few years and some could of been but pictures were far from conclusive and the prices these sell for it was just too risky to venture further on a hunch. Like London buses you don't see them for hours and then 2 come a long at once. This being my 2nd 1897 High Tide Victorian Penny in a few weeks. Although this is a different variety and I am unaware of varieties within the variety other than it to be High tide. Simply put I have 2 of these but one has the 1 over a border tooth the other has the 1 over a gap between the teeth. Which has affected the date widths also

Zoo.
I cant tell from the picture ,i am surprised that the width of a high tide is different as they seem to be struck from one REV die ,although that may well of been re-cut.
The line you have put on to help obscures the view.
Having studied the 1897 penny and never seen a difference in the position of the number one ,can you confirm please or put up larger pictures of just the dates without the line as the 8/9 & 7 are the same ,the high tide are all the narrowest date.Although the same date can be found on the standard penny aswell ,but much scarcer.
As in Gouby all 1897 High tide should be 9-5 teeth.

Ignore me. Was a shadow . I looked at both close up which is what I normally do. I should know better than to make a judgement call from a prelim picture. Both are 9.5 teeth. Thanks Pete for Kicking me back in to professional mode lol

I bought this coin maybe 1-2 years ago and scanned it recently. Then I noticed I had the photos provided by the seller. I thought it would be interesting to juxtapose them. I think the seller used lighting and angle to make the coin look much nicer than it really is. The sellers coins are also much smaller files.

Top down pictures never flatter coins you will never capture the lustre and the coin always looks flat. Worse on this series as they were for the most part up until 1923 very weakly struck. Premiums well above book value are paid for 6 complete lions. Nice coin

Interesting comparison. Most definitely more attractive in the seller photos, but I still like him even in yours.

Definitely not my thing but the price was so low I thought what the heck they can fund a future purchase British Banknote series .These are all struck in Cupro-nickel and silver plated a whopping 50 mm 32 gr All are proofs. This part of series D-E-F. F series was to celebrate the new style notes that replaced the old ones in various years 2007. the old being the Elgar style. The new notes have the new ultra-violet security features, hall mark and advanced holograms. Various themes £5 - £20 Culminating with a very large CU-silverplated with spot gold also proof standard depicting the gold sovereign of 1489 . It's almost a saucer size.70 mm 110 gr from 2013. Cracking set of modern commemorative strikes. The large Sovereign Strike I couldn't fit it all in the picture it was that big lol
