Take a look at this 1903 NFLD 10 cent piece, stupid question, was all the raised parts of this coin originally black...?
Looks like it was worn off...

Someone wanted to try using it as a stamp maybe. Black ink pad.
It would be a cool hand stamp except it comes off backwards.

Wert, good question. Usually the field is black not the raised parts.

What it looks like to meis a 109 year old coin with thick toning that was cleaned (attempted to remove toning). There are a lot of scratches visible on the fields, and some noticable scratches on the date and cents.

You are probably right middross...Also I never noticed the "DOT" before the date...?...Strange.
