By the way, basebal 21, I see that you have a coin on ebay with the grade of 67.
Could you pease tell me if the inperfections on the rim on the main photo are really dents instead of plastic?

youll lose money on a 65 but youll lose more having it not graded and selling it raw.

I dont see any imperfections on the rim, the rim edges dont photo well in the slabs

Ngs coins bring a higher premium than anacs but a lower one than pcgs. You might have a better shot getting the 67 with them though since they do seem to grade a bit easier. My big complaint about them and its a personal thing, is I don't like the solid white slabs that much. NGC will cost about the same to submitt too as pcgs as they require a membership too.

You're best bet would probably be to just wait till you get a few coins you'd like to send in then do it. The submission fees for shipping and everything are brutal on a single coin but if you spread it out over a few coins its not that bad per coin.

I never knew that NCG required membership.
Yes, ANACS has specials sometimes. I'll just wait until I have more than ten.
Thanks to all!

Youre in canada but if your a member of the ANA I believe it is theres a way you can submit to NGC without the membership.

I have no idea what they charge, but Silvertowne lets you send in coins to them for submission to the major TPGS as well without joining and of their memberships.

If you find out what they charge would you mind posting it here. I always mention them when people ask but have no idea if its a practical solution or not after taking into account their fee if there is one

I called and the one who tooke care of grades was not avaliable.
The one who actually picked up told me that the premium (to pay to Silvertowne) depends on the value of the coin which they will estimate, I believe.

The value can affect the price of the grading cost, but I wonder if the one who actually picked up really knew what they were talking about. That seems a little weird not to have set prices for it plus cost but if its a low premium it may not end up being bad at all

I'm sure she meant that the insurance.
On the website, I saw, on a page that I don't remeber where, that says Silvertowne offers a service of suggestion for collectors because some specimen coins are not worth certification. It states that Silver Towne could offer suggestions.
By the way, I do think that certification of something like the half dollar I have is risky. There is a very minor place on the coin that could either be water damage or fingerprint. I don't know what it is. There are no ovious scratches but minor ones on unfoucused ones under magnification. I wonder right now HOW I could get rid of it without certification. Half dollars are not my aims in coin collecting.

That is one of the things I like about the Silvertowne option that theyll give a second opinion and save you some money if its just not worth it.

You could sell it as is but will be looking at a far lower price tag. Itll be a risk for the grading that may or may not pay off. You could try sending it to Silvertowne and see what they say, but if you think it has no shot Id just sell it as is

Kennedys arent my specialty either I have no idea how the TPG would veiw that little mark. The safe play would to be just sell it for 2 or 3 bucks as is, but the high grade would be nice if you got it
