Picked this up at the bank today:

1976-$2-Low-Serial-Star-Note----Keep-Or-Spend?

The serial number is relatively low and it is a star note, but the condition is pretty hammered. I'm on the fence as to whether it's worth sticking it into a Mylar sheath or not. What do you think?

In related news, anybody ever try taking a steam iron to a wrinkled note?
Rest in Peace

Keep it until you find a better one. Another cool factor is the series year. It's pretty old ... (sigh -- I graduated from college that year -- sigh)

Never tried to iron money. I don't think you will get the little wrinkles out though. It will just end up looking like you messed with it. If you're going to try that, try it on another bill first and see what happens.

Nice find!

Don't iron it,it will lower any possible value. Condition is not so good but I would hang on to it till I found a better one. Not really a low SN. Low SN's start with four zeros.

I would definitely keep it. It's a nice find. If you do decide to unload it, make sure to sell it or give it to someone trustworthy so it doesn't go to waste!

All right, you're older than me (I was only 10), but calling these "old" still makes me feel ancient...

Yeah, I know. That's why I said "relatively" low. It's certainly the first note I own with three zeros to start.

Hmmmm... Maybe I'll add it to the stuff I'm giving to my 7-year-old son (a budding numismatist) for Christmas this year. We've been working on his 7070 album together so I've got some coins for him, but he has expressed an interest in currency lately and I did just explain to him what a star note was the other day...

And no, I wasn't serious about ironing the note!
