Whoa! How did I miss this thread? That is a heck of a coin! Sending to NGC for another opinion seems like solid advice. Best of luck!

I am out of pocket for a week babysitting my grand kids. When I get back I will look into sending the coin to Ncg. .
I guess another option would be have someone take it to a big coin show.
Thanks again for your help and ideas.

Thomas, just be sure it is NGC, not NCG.

NCG is really the best service for Bogrecht dollar grading!

A slam? No way!
I have met with and talked several experts in Liberty Seated coins and I am in awe of them.
Mr. Hayes, where are you located? Perhaps you can make it to a show and speak with members of the LCSS.
Mine is only one opinion among many. Not the best opinion, but offered honestly and without motive.

What could I possibly have to gain by slamming the CCF?

Baltimore and Philadelphia are the largest shows coming up in your area.
I am happy to hear that you are in no hurry.
Look, you have a very nice, genuine coin. Even if you put it away for 6 months it would STILL be a nice coin.
Play with the grand kids and relax.
Family is more important than coins anyway.
The CCF will be here when you get back.

I joined the LSCC online forum and asked a question about Liberty Seated half dime reverses a couple of months ago and to date not one answer to that question. That forum I have noticed is DEAD to collectors who they don't know and what I do see posted are rarities and varieties the buyer is bragging about. I am not impressed with that club at all.

Sorry I've missed this thread so far. This coin IMO is artifically colored, and a perfect coin to be sent through NCS for a conservation cleaning and possible restoration of the surfaces, They would remove the color, and this coin (unless there are hidden faults under the toning) should almost double in value. A very rare and desirable collector coin regardless of wether it is conserved or stays as is.

I agree getting this coin into a problem-free holder should be the goal. NCS is a good option. I would try NGC first (and NCS will usually pass it on if they feel it holder as is) to see if the color can be retained.

There is one on Greatcollections that will be auctioned off next Sunday in a PCGS Genuine holder if you want to watch it to get an idea of the value of the coin here is a link to it http://www.greatcollections.com/Coi...e-AU-Details in my opinion the one being discussed here has allot more eye appeal than this one being auctioned off
