Looking through some small cents for errors and such and came across this coin that appears to have the A pointed to a slightly smaller denticle...

Can not seem to find a picture of this only the A off and on ones.

If anyone has a pic of this please post it so I can compare.

Will get a pic of mine up later on tonight.

Both pictures in the link wert posted, and your photo, are large denticles.

The 1948 small denticles can be seen at the bottom of page 1 of this thread:

The search capabilities of this site are pretty good, you can even search in the individual forums.

@silver4ever,your pic looks like A points between large denticles

@SPP I recall reading somewhere that the points to and points between indicated high relief and low relief like other denominations of the era,is this true?

It looks to me like an A off denticle also. I will try to post some decent pictures of all three 1948 coins in the morning.

I have done the best I can with photos.....

First, here is the A off denticle

Next the A to large denticles. Note that the I of Gratia looks like it cannot fit between the denticles

Then the tough-to-find A to small denticles. Note that the I looks like it can fit between the denticles.

Nice photos small cent guy. I like the description that the "I" fits in the space between denticles.

The "I" is a good way to tell the difference. Not my idea though.....I read it somewhere else. BTW, good luck with the auction!

There's reference here to 1948 and 1949 high relief and low relief cents, and I know I have seen it mentioned elsewhere. Can anyone here confirm or dispel this? Usually a change in the orientation of the legend goes hand in hand with a change in the portrait.

OK, about about we declare today "bring back an interesting zombie thread day?"

I posted a pic of my 48 ATSD in an ICCS holder here three or four years ago. A while back I sent it off to PCGS. Last time I checked it was still the only one they had graded. .
