For those of you lucky enough to see Mike's 1976 5-cent cap that used to be on display in my showcase at Nuphilex and Coin Expo, and the set of 12 coins struck by that very cap... it was something really cool, and special. It is highly unlikely that such a set will ever be assembled again in Canadian numismatics and error collecting. The set has been broken up and sold. The cap and major errors were sold to a dealer with much deeper pockets than mine. I did manage to acquire 9 pieces of the set. These error coins will likely find home with error collectors (I don't collect 5-cent errors). My biggest regret of the time when I was showcasing the set for Mike, was not taking photographs of all the pieces - that would have been a great Errorscope article and would have immortalized the entire set in the numismatic literature. Now, with pieces scattered across the country, it is no longer the 'MGM set'. The coins I have will be cracked out of their CCCS holders. Some coins will go to PCGS for proper error attribution and grading, two pairs of matching 'struck through cap' coins will be going to PCGS for those cool double slab presentation pieces and the remainder will remain raw... I've never heard olf such a set. That would probably be impossible to duplicate. Thanks for the peek.

Wasn't TCNC going to auction the fragile cap?

Truly a shame the set wasn't written up and photographed.

i remember you showing me the cap in your showcase and pulling all the nickels struck by it in their cccs slabs and showing them to me and my parents, I really appreciate you doing that. it is a shame the set was broken though, it was definitely one of the coolest this I have seen.
Feel free to call me Will.

So special to have seen them together..
It's a shame that the "deeper pockets" didn't pick them all up and keep them together for obvious reasons....
That should have been a no-brainer..

Yup those are part of the same set, which I have - coinsrfun is an old CCF account Mike used to use. I'll post more photos later, and the PCGS slabs when they come back.
