I used to bill search when I was a cashier, but I no longer work (I'm a college student) I'm curious how people find bills? I search what I get, but it's such a small volume. When I worked at Walmart I would search thousands of bills! The best I found so far was a few bookends, a binary (1191919) and a red seal $2 but in bad condition and with pen marks (worth basically face, but I like it)

we do have some members here that get straps of bills from their bank to search for serial numbers and such things like that. I am not sure what all they are looking for but I do know they look for star notes, collectible serials, errors, and Birth day notes but not sure of everything they look for

I've considered doing it with $2 bills, but haven't done it yet.

About once a week I go to the bank and ask them if they have any $2 bills. Sometimes they don't have any, sometimes they have a few, and sometimes they have a stack. I usually buy whatever they have (unless it's some ridiculous amount like a complete strap).
I really buy them to spend, but I always check through them first. So far I've found some nice crisp Series 1976 bills from the Federal Bank of Boston (where I live) and a fairly worn 1963 star note. The one time I actually ordered a strap just for the heck of it, expecting to get older bills, I got 100 crisp Series 2003 notes with birthday serial numbers from 04231901 to 04232000.

I've done it a few times but my bank always wants advance notice if I want too much at once.
I haven't found anything too exciting -- but there are a few that I have kept. I don't think I could sell them though.

I don't usually collect currency, just coins. However, I saw a 1934A $500 at a bank a few months back, along with $400+ in halves. I didn't have enough cash for both, so I just got the halves. I went back two weeks later, and they still had it. I got it at face, and sold it to my LCS for $625! I would have gotten more, but it had a small tear.

I usually get $2-400 in singles from my a local bank once a week. Just like CRH I have a few pick-up banks and one dump bank, or I just spend it. I was surprised two weeks ago when I quickly flipped through and found a 1934 SC and when I pulled it out, there was another one right behind it. I look for special serial #'s, stars, matching front/back plates and any special printings. I also recently found a 1988 web note.
I always ask if the bank has any duces, those I don't pull, I spend. I got an almost full pack of crisp duce unc's, screaming quietly at the teller as she went to put them through the counting machine: "hand count them please"
I haven't started to look for fiver's yet. I have my kids on the lookout for any stars.

As has been mentioned, I mostly search $2 bills because it's just so much fun to spend the ones I don't want to keep...
