I found this one at a small outdoor flea market. It was in a batch of well worn Morgans. They were 35 dollars each choice and I haggled this one for 31 dollars. I'm feeling a low MS rating. Anybody feel different? Better? Worse? She has numerous die breaks and some doubling too. I'm going to post more about this in the VAM Thread. Thanks.

I am thinking of it being more an MS-61.

I think I'm onboard with MS62. The cheek is skritchy, but the fields aren't bad. While you're at it, have a look here:

Think you'll like what you see. They're plentiful, but a Top 100 is a Top 100.

Hi SsuperDdave,

I had discovered this earlier. She's already in plastic and labeled VAM6A. On ebay, the MS62 has a range of 40-90 dollars for graded examples. At 31 dollars, I did OK.

This one has the rusted back,

What we call a "Pitted Reverse"

I miss-spoke/typed. I had read that the dies on the reverse would get an accumulation of moisture. The die had the rust, not the coin.

As opposed to Mrs-Spoke.

Sumtimes my spelling is nun two grate.

Very cool die breaks. I agree with low mint state, but I have trouble (as I'm sure many do) with the coins that are between sliders and MS 62. I think it will go mint state though.

I wasn't trying to correct you I was just letting you know what term VAM collectors use for this type of thing. It is caused from exactly what you said, moisture accumulated on the Reverse die and caused it to rust. It in turn struck the coin and left pitting on the coins it struck. This would be there until someone noticed it and sent it off to be reworked or until the die just fell apart. At that time they would smooth out the fields once again and there would be no pitting or even allot of times die cracks left on the die so the next time it was used those features would be missing
