MS61 tops. The hits on the cheek and in the field really hold it back.

Yep, this one is way too baggy for a 63. I'm seeing an MS61.

I have to wonder what they did with Morgans sometimes. Did they take them from the press, and rub them on pavement, face-down? This is the poster child for "obverse limited," which is so prevalent among Morgans I'm forced to wonder why.
MS62, and that appears to be a planchet void on the cheek.

I believe they were a little off on grading as this coin is very baggy looking and 63 is very optimistic on it. I think maybe 61-62 is more what it would grade at a TPG but would not fall in the price where it is really worst sending in

I don't feel too bad then. I purchased the Morgan and this way cool Baker & Moody Hatter Trade Token from Chicago. Probably 1850-1860s. I'll post this on another thread but here is a sneak peek. I paid $64.40 for both pieces and I believe the Hatter Token would do 40-80 on ebay. My dilemma is do I sell the token to pay for or help pay for the Morgan or do I keep both .

Very cool token. I would keep it and flip the Morgan.

Aw, who cares? At $64 for both, you win either way. Given the prevalence of 1881-S Morgans, I'd sell it to justify the other if it's a question for you. You won't get much more than $40 for the Morgan, but those are common as leaves on the ground.

Somewhat. They have a weird price spread on ebay and MS62 & MS63 have seen numbers in the 60-70 range plus some higher and of course some below the range. OK, SsuperDdave, you convinced me. They'll both stick around for a while. I'll set two more places for dinner.

No better than MS61 just a common BU dollar IMO... The token on the other hand is super cool! What a neat find.

Good luster, excessive bad marks. Somewhere in the MS-61 to MS-62 range. Good example of the type of coin one finds in BU Morgan Rolls.

LOVE the token. Quite a piece of history there.
Agree on the 81 S - TREMENDOUS reverse. The bag mark...no...gouge, killed this coin. No gouge, probably a 66 coin. Knocked in the MS cellar to 61.
But, congrats on the additions to the family.
Of note, I would NOT feel bad about keeping this one....VERY good trade fodder down the road.
