I think this is a great test! Wish it was'nt gonna take 3-4 years before we have an answer.

What is odd is the Mint Set comes with a notification that the Lincoln 95% Copper Cents may tone and no notification is enclosed in the Proof Sets, and the opposite happens.

I've made myself comfortable. We'll be waiting for your results.

I speculated in the first thread that one factor in the Cent toning may have been gases given off by the brand-new OGP (like the gases that give off the "new car smell") interacting with something in the local atmosphere. If this is true, OGP that has aged three years before going to Broken-Coin's locality might no longer cause such toning. You'll have to watch your new Proof Set for a few years to find out, though.... Having all the Proof coins in one holder is really cool! And, as I guessed, the Mint Set Cents look great in the Proof Lens. What will jbuck think? Coins removed from their OGP, then put in different OGP. Three 2011-W Proof ASE's and Two 2011-W Unc. ASE's in one of my extra A25 boxes

DNA, I LIKE that! Not a bad idea. I may actually buy some of those empty ones on ebay now... Broken, your original post spurred me to look on ebay for some toned ones as those spaces are empty in my Dansco. I found a set that came from the full proof set, so it seems that they are toning in that packaging as well, which is pretty much the same except for the picture on the cardboard. As the others said, it will be interesting to see what happens with the mint set coins.

I have ten "empty" A25 box/COA Sets, two of them now filled with 2011-W ASE's. And I love all those Satin Finish coins in the Proof lenses. The 2009 Proofs in one holder gives me a great idea. A Dansco album for 1999-up Proof Sets, with pages for each year and all the year's Proof coins together on each page!

In the original forum post Silverguy said Quote: I just looked at my 2009 Uncirculated Mint Set. (not Proof) and found this slip in the packaging. All Coins are OK. "The Uncirculated Mint Set" Then Broken-Coin said Quote: What is odd is the Mint Set comes with a notification that the Lincoln 95% Copper Cents may tone and no notification is enclosed in the Proof Sets, and the opposite happens. I do have all three sets Silver Proof, Mint Set and Uncirculated By saying Quote: Opening the Mint Set Blister Package. you do mean the Uncirculated set by your pictures? Never heard them called"Blister Package" So far the only ones not to tone are my Uncirculated set. The one the Mint warned us about toning. Strange. My I add, I live in the Great Lakes State, "Michigan." Just to add to the regional question of "cause and effect." Thanks.

HAHAHA...great experiment! Keep us updated.
Make sure you store the toning experiment under the exact same conditions as the proof set.
