I'm half way to completing my Morgan dollar all mints Capital Plastics holder. My most recent addition is the PCGS MS-64 1884 CC with absolutely gorgeous toning on both sides. The first coin is an 1882-S in the opening for the obverse. The second coin is the 1884 CC for the Carson City opening and the third coin is an 1889 in the opening for the Philadelphia Mint. The '82-S and '89 are both PCGS MS-63. The photographs are not as good as I would have liked but I think you'll get an idea of how nice the toning is on them anyway. The whole set will have matching color. Finding a 1921 D with this color toning is going to be difficult but I'm sure I'll eventually find one that will be suitable for the set.

I am blown away. Just the first half of this set is great. Can't wait to see the rest.

Fair warning: decently-toned 1921-D's carry a silly premium. Count yourself a winner if you can get one at grade price.

I'm back to collecting after a multi-year lapse. I enjoy this forum; have read it for some time.
I am collecting PCGS Morgans, MS64. I have to share my excitement in picking up an 1882-CC the other day. It's my first Carson City.
By the way, I find that PCGS does the best grading. Am I in the minority here?

Very nice matched set so far. The ability to accurately photograph a toned Morgan will be tougher to come by than completing this set. Best of luck on both and keep us posted!

Thanks for the reminder, really. I am aware that toned 1921-D's are not easily found. The last couple I had seen I didn't ask the price and I wasn't looking to buy one then either so I don't know how much of a premium people think they can get. I won't pay stupid money just to have one and I am not in a hurry to fill that hole so eventually I'll find a dealer who isn't in love with his coin and get it at a fair price.

Nicely toned CC's are not very common either and the $275.00 I paid for this one I felt was quite reasonable.

Very nice, too bad I had an O mint coin 1900 that matched these other coins perfectly in toning and color, it was MS-64 NGC but I just dumped it in a trade, would have looked great in that holder.

Still like the Capitol Plastics holders the best for big displays like this. I have a cool 1878 Morgan dollar holder somewhere.

blackjack, it's MS-64. That's usually the highest grade I'll buy unless the differential between an MS-64 and MS-65 is within reason.

Funny that you say that Gyreme7483; I noticed the other day that the 65s don't always leap above the 64s where rub marks and chatter are concerned; not worth the extra money. And I've been told that the 64s trade well.
