Can't wait to get it. One thing the guy said was that damp or wet ground doesn't work very well unless you have the more expensive ground balance system in your detector. The ground around here, particularly this time of year, is quite wet. Does anyone have an opinion on that?

Hi Brettwp

Welcome to the forum !!

Im not sure how the Ace 250 is set up ,I have never used one , but I think you mean ground tracking ?

I know my machine has the autotrac system and what this does is it automatically and continually ajusts the ground balance as you move across an area to keep the detector at an optimum in varing soil conditions.

Most detectors do not mind a little moisture in the ground and it actually sometimes helps to hit on the deeper targets by enhancing the halo of the object in the ground.

Nohope uses the same machine that you ordered ,unfortunately he is off working right now but is expected back toward the middle of april.

Im sure He can give you some pointers about the ace 250 ,,He does quite well with his.

I have always found that ground moisture is a plus no matter what detector your useing.
For both detection and recovery.

The package deal I bought included what they call the 9x12 Rhino coil, that is suppose to go 30% deeper, and the 6.5X9 "PROformance Searchcoil" I imagine that the smaller one is for trashy areas. Has anyone else used these enough to have an opinion?

I borrowed a MD years ago and had a blast, but consider myself a newbie.

I use my rhino coil almost exclusivly,I have hunted with a ace 250 for the last 6 mounths probaly 15 hrs or more a week, the guy that said its not great for wet ground was wrong, its fine in wet soil. The only thing Ive noticed is I often have to turn down the sesitivity to avoid false signals. I have since moved up to a minlabe SE,but often still use the ace, I use Tresure Net forum for much info and encouragement. I hope That helps. T.C.
