I finally found my one and only square coin.
Sel has a great collection of square coins and I knew I had one of them, not flash but it is the only one I have.

When Sel came for a visit I was immensely impressed when he showed me images of his square coins and I was buggered if I could find my lowly sample.
So here ya go mate I found it

I like to have a go at some odd ball types of collecting sometimes.
I do indeed have a collection of about 80 different types of square coins from around the World.

About 25 years ago, I was looking through a dealer's junk bin and failed to find anything interesting, until it twigged that he had about 5 different types of square coins, all available for 10 cents each. That was the start of a square coin collection which by type, is probably now the biggest in the World.

There is not much competition against me however, because I don't know of anybody else who collects square coins! Nevertheless, I have had lots of fun putting this collection together, for very little cost, almost of them acquired by searching through dealer cheapie junk bins in their shops, or at coin shows.

Some of those coins acquired so long ago may be valued at a couple of dollars or so now, and perhaps the collection as a whole, may be worth more than the sum total of it's parts.

Likewise, sorry for butting in.
Sel, your collection of 80 are specific individual types and do not include date varieties?
I have no idea of how many I have and it would take me ages to trawl through my collection to pick out and number. Mmmm, seems I have some time on my hands!

Sel - it would be great if you could start a Square coin thread - say, post one every few days - That would be interesting
