I have been eyeballing this coin...probably against my better judgement as I sacrifice my lunch hour to return home say hello to the baby, distract the wife and intercept the mail...I can only do for so long...and with international sellers the time it takes for the package to arrive can vary greatly...

Ok with that all being said, as you all know I have fiending for coins of the east- I came across a coin

It is being sold as a Roman Style 1 century coin from India...

Kushan Empire
Kujula Chach- Greek Legend around/ king seated right in curule chair.
The coin has some minor BD and some brassy metal showing through the patina on the high point of the obverse. It looks very similar to an Kushan imitation of Augustus from the British museum collection...over here on wikipedia second AE coin from the bottom...

I think its really fascinating that these coins where copied so far from Rome....I can almost look past the condition issues and the reverse which requires a little imagination...I can see some Kharoshti script on the reverse.
I also will not pay the guys asking price of 106 GBP thats like a million dollars....I was thinking around 30 GBP. Even thats a little steep for a coin in this condition....now tell me guys do you think its worth it?

I know nothing about the value, but the bust sure looks Roman to my untrained eye. Not a bad looking coin at all. Take it from an expert, you can only hide it from the wife for so long. They have their ways of finding these things out. It's uncanny I tell you.

Buy it! Go for it. Its certainly an interesting piece to own.

I also like your conversion rates. £106 --> $1,000,000. Hardly true (anymore...).

You have been buying some very interesting coins lately, like Bing I know nothing about this type so I can't comment on value. If you can get it for a price that you are happy with than go for it.

He has it. You want it. A classic way to pay too much. If you didn't want it, I think he would have trouble selling it for $10. It has many "problems" and is from an area hardly collected.

i was just getting ready to say, don't know AN...you should consult DS.

it it was just any old kushan I was also going to say 10 bucks, but I didn't know if it was some real rare coins or something...a quick google search didn't help out.

but it is cool and "different" for a kushan, I maybe would 15 gbp tops.

Yea, I tend to side with the Big Fish here...I think I might pass on this...although I haven't seen another...there is a lot of condition issues that in the future without diligent care might impact the health of the coin. I will wait for another.
