can anyone recommend a dealer who is fair and who deals in banknotes. A friend asked me to recommend someone to him but I didn't really know of anyone.

There are several dealers who buy as with many collectors here on the forum. I know of one in TO who guaranties between 50 to 65 % or trend ... Others maybe 3o to 50 depending.... Your best bet I say is with the wonderful world of ebay....Can you post some of the bills or perhaps a list of what your friend has

I just got a glance at what he had, not a whole lot , a small pile of shin plasters, couple George VI , some Confederate money among others. I'll see about a list over the next few days. Like I said he just wanted me to recommend a dealer to him, I'm not sure what he intends to do but I will be sure to mention that he might find some interested parties right here. Thanks for the input.

I agree with Canadian-Banknotes. Colonial Acres is great company to deal with.

Ive heard good things about Colonial acres although I've never used them. I told my friend about them and gave him the number. He must have liked what they told him because he's driving down to see them this weekend.
Thanks all for your input.

I would recommend ebay auctions ...

They do reflect "somewhat" actual Market Value for notes (IMHO)

Cheers

I agree ebay works well if your familiar with it. It is more time consuming, and you have no insurance shipping the items. Canada Post does not insure coins. If you take the chance you may get a bit more for them. So there is the positives, and negatives of using this method.

I use ebay for both Coins and Note works great and I always set the price to what I want so when it sells I get the expected price :)

I did tell my friend that ebay was probably the best way to go but I think he was more interested in using a dealer.
But thank you for the advice, I 'm getting ready to sell some of my stuff and ebay is probably where I will start.

With our hobby knowing how to sell is just as important as knowing how to buy.
