Hey all. I used the search function without avail and figured I might as well get on with my first post, so sorry if this has been covered 1000 times. I've been using Whitman and Littleton foldouts as they're inexpensive. I seem to remember reading that coins stored in these can tone unevenly(ob- vs. re-verse). How big of an issue is this, or was this more of a problem years ago with less- archival paper? Thanks for humoring a newby. Great hobby ya' got here!

Welcome aboard! For storage I like to always suggest the 2x2 holders you staple and put into plastic pages. It's a nice way to display your coins and be able to see both sides of the coin.

Welcome to the forum!!!

I personally like the Dansco albums as you can see both sides of the coin and they are easy to put coins into.

I too like Danso albums. I have begun to put my Franklin and Kennedy collections into these.

I've got a question to add to this if I may.

Do the albums tend to allow coins to tone more than 2x2s or vice versa or is it even much of an issue either way?

I've often wondered about how well those windows in the albums seal things up and recently got my first dansco from a buddy at work.

Anyone have an opinion?

I have seen coins tone in 2X2's and I have seen coins remain stable in 2X2's for many years, the most crucial part of storage is environment ,,if the enviroment fluctuates drastically between humid ,dry ,hot ,cold then no matter what you put them in (besides airtite containers) ,the coins will react ,,copper first ,Silver ,and gold at different levels.

It is true that the environment you live in can effect toning on coins. Here in AZ I do not have this problem, as for your folders even the new one use glue to hold them together so it is my opinion that no one can say for sure if they will damage your coins.

Bruce.
