I just seen this coin on ebay, and something just doesn't look right to me. The shape of the "O" in Newfoundland especially.

What do you think?

Hi, CB.. I looked at mine and I think you are right, the 'O' and 'D' in Newfoundland doesn't look quite right to me, nor the 9 in the date.

I asked the seller for better pics. Received them. The coin I think is legit EF polished. The legends are ok. I think original pic is just distorted by using a phone camera.

He has added new pics. Coin looks genuine. Cleaned though, giving it that "odd", red metallic color on a circulated piece.

There is absolutely no way those are over fine. If you want me to provide examples of VF and EF coins just say so. This coin is far nicer:

and will probably go for less.

This has gone from cloak and dagger to farce.
The new photos are indeed of a genuine coin. The first and original pic is not of the same coin as the rest, look closely, you'll be able to pick out the differences! The seller was too lazy to get up a pic of his own,so he lifted the first one from the web.Unfortunately that pic was of a Chinese-made fake. This is not conjecture I can prove it.When contacted he quickly got out his phone and went to work, neglecting to delete the photo of the fake.

A seller can't delete photos once there is a bid placed.

Is the first picture really of a fake? It just looks like a badly lit coin/poor picture/cleaned coin to me. I haven't squinted very close at it or compared to other 1917C Newfie cents though.

The coin ended up selling for $41.

No other bids were placed after the new pictures were posted.
