Auction wrap up....
NONE of these were included in the auction:
"gold dollars, silver coins and tokens"
The
IHC - were all common date, well worn, and only a total of 8. Sold for $20
Buffalo nickels - all common, probably 25 total, and sold for $25.
Uncirculated nickels turned out to be federal reserve wrapped 2005 Buffalo. There were 25 rolls and one buyer bought all, at $6 per roll.
50 + rolls of Wheat cents - closer to 35 or 40 rolls, call it $20 face value. All common date and all circulated. I bid to $50 and gave up there. These sold for $95. I SO wish I had brought my common circulated to sell.
$2 bills, just common, from circulation $24 face value, sold for $25.
There were five, incomplete 1909-1940 Lincoln Whitman books. I thought I had the bid at $9 per book, ended at $14.
The list:
Book 1 - Of note, this is an EARLY Whitman book, as the slots list Philadelphia, San Francisco, then Denver mints, in that order. Has a copywright of 1949 on the last page.
1910 S - g
1911 D - G
1912 S - vg
1912 D - low xf
1913 D - G
1915 through 1924 - G/VG. 1922 D in XF
1924 S - G
1925 through 1931 - G to high XF. 1926 D in G, 1926 S in VG
No 31 S or 31 D. Rest of the book is complete.
Book 2
1911 D, 1912 S, 1912 D, 1913 D, 1914 S, 16 S, 16 D, 18 S, 18 D - all in G or a touch better.
1921 S - VG
1922 D - G/vg
1924 D & 24 S, 26 D, 26 S - G/VG
Beautiful 1934 AU with hints of red obverse, with a killer woodie reverse.
Book 3 - very sparse - nothing to type about
Book 4 - Same as book 3
Book 5 - nice 1914 in high XF - woodie
Not a killer buy, but not bad either.
Guns/Ammo - all of the guns went for more money than they are worth. Some only $50 more, but most 100 to 200 more than if a normal retail location selling used firearms would sell them for.
I did buy some new (not reloaded) ammo and some speer bullets.
At the end of the day, I will sell off some of my other purchases and end up at $25 in the Lincolns listed above.
Auctions can be crazy. This was the same as any other auction I have been to. Knowledge is power. KNOW what you are after and KNOW what to pay. Don't buy something, unless it is a set of 1930's or 1940's dried up leather and rusted ice skates....for your good buddy standing down the line in the crowd for you. Best $2.50 I have spent in some time. He thought his wife bought them when the auctioneer handed them to him. :)
