Poll Question
This Poll is primarily for those of You Collector's who purchase coins on E-bay. Everyone who shops on E-bay uses different methods to search for coins. Listed below are as many as I can think of, perhaps I may have left out your method, if so, pick the one that comes closest, regardless if you shop ebay.com/Ebay.com! (before my morning coffee, that ain't too bad!)
Once you've made your choice, tell us why you shop that way?

Glenn

I use a combination of Ending Soonest, Lowest Price, and shipping cost no matter what I am looking for.

I only search for PCGS/CAC and NGC/CAC graded coins on ebay. Too many problems coins out there I want to avoid. I also only search for "Buy it Now" coins.

to be honest, every now and then I will check "ending soonest" and if there's something that may potentially be worth more in the future or I really like it and it's a good price I will get it. for example, today I am completely cleaning out my safe. I know there's atleast 100$ worth of random coins that don't belong in my collection. I mostly get coins I need (unless there's a nice lot I can give to my girlfriend and nephew to fight over "which ones are cuter")

Typically I go with ending soonest because I think that I may snatch that great deal everyone else missed. I also search buy it now because I believe some people may be in a hurry to get rid of something sweet.

I've only done about 15 buys, but they were all done based on a combination of specific series-specific date-grade-ending soonest-lowest cost.

I wish I didn't have to use ebay, but there are no coin shops around that I know of, and I can only go to shows Nov-March. First, I'll look at sellers I've had good dealings with. Sometimes for fun I'll go fishing for low 'buy it now' prices, for poorly worded listings (just got two AU Walkers for the kid's type sets for below spot), and since I work bizarre hours I'll check 'ending soonest' at 4AM or noon on weekdays.

w/ Tim Stroud. I search search for the coin or coin set I want, set myself a price limit usually lower than most of the previous completed sales and try to snipe it at the end. I lose WAY more than I win, but it makes the wins that much better because I know that the ones I win, I WIN! Also, I ALWAYS include shipping cost into my total price limit.

I never use ebay or any on line coin places. With 4 coin shows a Month, every Month, all year long, no need to. All shows are withing 15 miles so just to easy to buy coins. No insurances, no postage, no lost in mail, no wrong coins sent, etc. Just what you see is what you get.

My collection is fairly advanced and refined to specific series and certain dates. In that I enjoy looking at ebay for my interest coins in the newly listed format for my search. That way I can review newly listed coins and "watch" ones that I would like to own. Often the watched coins exceed my budget and I remove them yet others will remain at reasonably price and I will then make my bid late in the listings life.
