Has anyone noticed....
The quarter and 1 dollar bill have the same President and now the new $ coins (Washington)
I think one or the other should be eliminated. ...I'd vote for the bill.

What other Presidents' are honored in the same way? Coin and bill?

Why not have one different President for a coin of each denomination (1c, 5c, 10c, 25c, 50c and $) or a bill in each denomination that is not the same as in the coin?
I like the Kennedy half dollars. Why isn't there a Kennedy bill as well? As they did with Washington?

Just a thought. And I was bored.

With the State Quarters, nickels and now the presidential quarters I've been able to hold my own. If they go to all domination's I think I'll have to concentrate on finishing all of my older coin collections first.

How 'bout they just eliminate dead presidents from all our coinage?

If it was up to me we would:

-Do away with the paper dollar and the cent (after 2009 of course).

-If we keep the nickle then revamp it and make it out of a copper/zinc alloy.

-Add a two dollar coin.

-Bring back Lady Liberty on the above changes and look into retiring the rest of the Presidents on coins. What we've got isn't as boring as the old Barber coinage or the sitting Liberty years but it's time to shake things up a bit IMHO.

-Also, I'd like to see a special cent put out, not the four reverse types they have planned but possibly a commemorative cent. An exact duplicate of the 1909 cent, complete with the wheat stalks and VDB. A 2009 S VDB.

Geez, wouldn't people have a hissy.

Well, Abe Lincoln is on the cent and the $5 bill. Thomas Jefferson is on the nickel and the $2 bill. I think that's it. I also agree it's time to shake things up a bit. I'd vote for Ronald Reagan on the dime and Harry Truman on the nickel.

By the way, I think referring to our great nation's former heads of state as "dead presidents" is disrespectful and unpatriotic. Just my opinion.
Rest in Peace

TSmith:

Looks like we pretty much agree. Every time I see the "dead presidents" terminology, it bothers me.

And, maybe "enough is enough" when it comes to Presidents on coins, however... Without trying to present a history lesson, I wonder how many of us have thought of the tremendous contributions made by such leaders as Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and others. Where would we be as a country without such individuals? When you consider this, it's difficult (for me at least) to think of taking them off of our coin obverses.

Gary, I wouldn't remove any of our honored Presidents' off the coins or bills. I just would like to see each of these Presidents' on either a coin or a bill and not a coin and a bill. They should be equally honored.

If you had the choice to choose. would you choose Washington on the quarter, the dollar bill or the dollar coin? I'd choose to keep Washington on the quarter and someone else on the dollar and again someone else on $ coin.
But then again since the $ coin is a Presidential Series honoring ALL of our Presidents' I would keep the $ coins and eliminate the dollar bill altogether.
Just an opinion. and thought.
Thanks, mila_

If you did'nt change your Presidents so quickly or often, you would not have a problem. Look at the milage we have got out of Queen Elizabeth II.
