The Minneapolis and Kansas City star notes really are the keys to the 1976 series $2 FRNs.

If the note is as nice as it looks from the picture, it's easily worth at least 10 times what you paid for it.

I agree this note has a lot more value than I paid for it.

When I got home and checked my price guide, it list the value as
$175.00 in CH CU.

This is a case where dealers and collectors need a guide or access to a online site that breaks down the print runs for each note. This note has a print run of 640k and is considered to be the hardest star note to find for 1976 series. I did check ebay this morning and see them selling/asking $60 to $190, in different grades.

This note appears to have no problems. It is crisp with no folds.

1976 series star notes do sell in coin shops in the $6 to $8 dollar range.
This is one that collectors should keep an eye out for.

That's a nice pick up for six

The issue with short run stars is that it's tough to price due to all the variables....Meaning you cannot really say that a run of 640K or less is key. I have spent a lot of time researching this particular nuance and it's a tough to make blanket statement like anything less than 640K or 320K would be key or not.

FWIW, sometimes folks have found packs of short run stars...which in turn can depress prices etc.

To circle back...I have some short run stars where the book's say it's worth X$ BUT you can pick them up for 25 cents of the $ easily. On the other hand I have seen large runs go for more than the published prices. There are just too many variables for someone to maintain a site with prices etc....my 2 cents
