CoinWorld is reporting in the 6/13/05 issue that YN Cameron Kiefer has been hired by ICG as a professional coin grader. Congratulations to Cameron and kudos to ICG. If someone has talent for *anything* their age should not hinder them.

I believe this is the same gentleman who posts on CU and CT. I remember his posts being very intelligent and knowledgeable.

ICG is on the cutting edge of the grading market. If they would only stop the ultra modern "giveaway" grades they may move into the number 2 spot.

Hey OldDan, I'd bet you could show all those grading services how to *really* grade Buffalo nickels

I have known Cameron for a good while and must say that when I found out that he was working at ICG it made me glad and sad...I had gotten a good many coins from him as he sold over ebay at great prices (below list) and when he started at ICG they have a rule that none of their workers can buy or sell coins.... But if any YN can grade coins right its Cameron!! Speedy

I think ICG is on their way up. ND points out their one glaring weakness. That aside I say they are a good company that deserves another look! New blood can only help. Mike

I love what ICG is doing for the most part. They have taken giant leaps in the holders used, have (on older coins) very consistant grading, and they are constantly looking to improve tomorrow. I have still not used their service for grading, but buy their slabs on a pretty regular basis. They are more than friendly at the shows, and always willing to listen to the collector as well as the dealer.

My dream still is that one day ANACS and ICG will merge and knock these other two off their Chrome Horses.
The last time I had anything to do with slabs was about 4 years ago. I wanted to slab a 1998S Matte JFK half. I sent emails to all the services asking about their submission policy. Two days later I got a priority package in the mail from ICG with about 100 submission forms. LOL I only wanted to submit the one coin and at the time ANACS accepted singles as an economy submission, so I used them. Still, it was very impressive how fast ICG acted.
I still think most aspects of market grading are a joke, if not the greatest Ponzi scam ever invented. But it's been here for too long and is pretty much the center piece of coin collecting today. That's why I like the idea of ICG hiring a YN. Maybe they should all do that and get some fresh perspectives. We can use it.

I was happy to see Cameron get that job. He is very knowledgeable and has a passion for numismatics like no other. I hope he can help fix some of the shortcomings at ICG that ND pointed out so that we have four legitimite TPG competitors. By the way, Cameron is no longer a YN -- he is 22 or 23!!

Yes, I have read Cameron's posts over on Cu. He seems well balanced for a young man, I'm sure he will do great.

Cameron's a real go-getter. I only wish that I followed my true passion in life when I was his age. We give him a lot of gudd in the PCGS forum, because it's a lot of fun, but he's really going places.

Cameron is a very knowledgeable young man, and has studied grading (along with many other numismatic topics) and will undoubtedly do well, both for his employer, and himself. He's a good guy.
