Just got this 1884 Liberty nickel. Its a nice high AU, but has been holed, but I got it for my son's book. I noticed the date had some extra metal around it. It looks like a die crack, but there is no thin spidery crack extending out from it like you see on most die cracks. I couldn't find any info on a rpd of this "size" any where, just wondering what everyone thinks?

I learned on this forum that there's no such thing as extra metal on a coin. The planchet is one size. My guess is die chips on the date.
