Here are a few snaps I took of the replica coins used in Spartacus Blood and Sand series. There are more scenes but these might be the closest to see the details of the coins.

I'm wondering what these replicas were modeled after. Does anyone know? I looked around for information about it, out of curiosity.

I also thought that some people here might be interested in seeing them. I also included a abacus.

That's cool I wish I knew what type(s) they were exactly, but I am not knowledgeable in Roman Republic coins, probably one reason why I only have one.

(minted between 87-86 BC)

To think this was circulating when Spartacus's rebellion was going on!

Wow--it sure looks very close!

The paper with the inscription is real papyrus--nice to see accurate details like that.

I don't think it can be Sextus Pompey. Spartacus lived from c. 109â€"71 BC, while Sextus, the youngest son of Pompey the Great, Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus, lived from 67 BC â€" 35 BC. But interesting all the same.

I also wonder if these fakes used for the movies, somehow made it into numismatic circulation.

Could be about anything judging from the pics, but they are not very strict, usually, about the coins they use in the movies

Coins shown in "Rome" TV series...
