All I know is that people who spent considerably more money on the the premium hand selected coins are putting a lot of faith into the mint's very generic language. I feel pretty safe with the $80 premium I paid on the $5 HS coins. I'd be much more nervous about the potential grade of these coins if I bought premium. It's probably like gasoline - premium is a waste of money :)

haha well, we shall have to see. There is only one way of finding out. I am happy with my Hand selected purchase...nothing would make me believe it will be under AU, and that's fine by me.

I'm pretty sure gatewest/Albern sell more than the shopping channel guy/ cdn coin and currency. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

the $5 had great value, did the mint show status that the $5's where close to being sold out, or did they just update the website as sold out without warning. I am now considering grabbing a 1913 but was hoping I could wait until the new year before ordering.
EDIT, I think the $5 Premium HS are still good value and worth the gamble.

Maybe you can get information about quantities remaining by phoning the mint but as far as online goes there is not often a lot of warning when sales are moving quickly. Sometime they will have periods of "awaiting stock" status or in the case of some of these gold coins they went to "available by web only" before being listed as sold out. If the coins are selling more slowly then they will sometimes show the percentage sold. With December being a major gift giving month, I would be surprised if these are still available in the new year.

Im kind-of surprised at the fact that the 1913 and 1914 $10 hand-selected coins are still available. This is a little worrying because the demand is not as high as I would have liked, due to my purchase being primarily one for investment purposes. However, perhaps the high price tag of $1000 is preventing people from buying up the entire stock.
What an exciting release this turned out to be !

$1000 dollars for a single coin is a lot of money for most people. Agree, its preventing the sell-out and what an exiting release for sure.

What an exciting release this turned out to be ! The reason why the 1913 and 1914 $10 hand picked coins are not sold out is due to the large amounts available. It is estimated there are 6000 1913 and 10,000 1914 $10 gold coins whereas there was less than 2000 of the 1912 $10 golds available. Plus there was only a total of 5050 $5 gold coins available for all 3 years. So it is not the high $1000 price but the quantity available. Notice how fast the 1914 $10 coin went. |

yes, taxes does hurt the premium attached to these coins. I think the secondary market will increase for the $5 dollar pieces more than the $10 coins. I think they both coins cater to different markets/collects. Time will tell, with the numbers being released, I don't see these as rare coins anymore, just old coinage in good conditions. Again I'm a newbie to numb stuff though, just my opinion. I am still trying to talk myself into a 1913 to keep the 1914 company :)
Did a lot of folks on here grab more than one :)?

just my opinion, if you phone the RCM about the set they will tell you there are only 120 units for sale and will not refer you to any dealers handling this issue, thats strange policy not supporting your own network. from the 120 sets you can logically assume that a few dealers has cherry picked 20 sets, and I am guessing the 20 sets will contain the highest grade no dealer will spend close to 12,000.00 on coins unseen. |

I called Canadian Coin to track one of my orders, I received the 1/25 gold penny but waiting for the 1/2 silver penny.
Anyways, I asked about the 1912-1914 gold coins. They will definitely be getting them in stock. I tried to pre-pay for a $5 dollar coin but would not allow me. They have no ETA from the mint or the amount they are getting.
