Saw three of the 1912 $5 hand-selected pieces tonight. Very baggy, two coins were MS-60 and one maybe MS-62. You would do better "hand selecting" these yourself from any coin show bourse...

Good luck in finding a MS-60 or MS-62 1912 $5 gold coin for $500 in a coin show. If they do have any, it will be $600 or more. J&M coins have a MS-60 for $600 and a MS-62 for $650.

And a 1914 $5 MS-60 goes for $1050 and MS-62 for $1600 at J&M.

And looking through ebay, crappy non-graded 1912 $5 gold coins sell for $600.

It would be interesting to know the production cost of some of these products. Obviously you have the base metal price, but how much is paid to artist/creator? Is that why some coins are many multiples? (1oz Group of 7 at 3x) vs. 1/2oz Innukshuk at 2.6x).

If profit is their pure motive, I could see the higher premiums based on increased appeal for group of 7. But with the 1912-1914 gold coins, their should have been some variations in price based on rarity. Taking J&M as a very rough guide, the 1912-13 $5 MS60=$600, while the 1914 MS60=$1050. It wouldn't surprise me if the price came down with the increase in available supply.

In short, it would be interesting to know if the price of some coins was the result of high production costs (artist) or smart pricing based on expected demand (assuming it sells out).

Anyone please advise when they receive or get their shipping notification for their $5 1914 hand selected coins. I ordered mine on November 29 and am getting very impatient. Hopefully it is graded in the MS range.

if many mints of the world can produce silver bullion coins like the american eagles and have dealers sell at 2to 3 dollars premium over spot and still make a profit that should answer the question of how much profit the RCM makes on a nclt coin. one has to factor in lower mintages with nclt coins but still a 50 to 60 dollars markups.

Only the 1912 coins shipped at first, I've heard they started shipping the 1914 but I haven't seen any yet.
