The 1863 is also weak to the right of "Liberty", but good eye appeal overall, strong reverse, nice color. Present bid around PCGS MS-63 money, and I'd say that's about right. CAC sticker? Sure! PCGS MS-64? Not so sure.

I guess that one makes me cry too--but for different reasons. I'm unsure the value of a CAC sticker on a coin with obvious strike issues. I tend to regard CAC stickerd as meaningless-- just look at the coin!

on the 1863 I believe that is just a scuff on the slab right over the bottom part of the "S" if that is what you are referring to as a weak strike. I may be wrong but thats what it looks like to me

Hmm...I think you're right, it could just be a scuff on the case.

On the original coin, I can't say for sure it's been that heavily-polished. The lighting is kind of harsh.

Compare to a slabbed MS example below. Just my take--but I see telltale rounding on RPD details, the color of bare metal, and lack of minted surfaces and cartwheel in the fields. Or as someone once said, "Whenever there is any doubt--there is no doubt"
