The rims look a bit like road kill, surprising when the rest of the coin is OK,
a few knicks in Lizzie's cheek.

Is it possible to get one out of an unmolested mint set? Do they come in MS66 or better from a mint set?

If you have the coins still in the original death traps,
the answer would be no.
PVC damage has decimated the early mint sets.

I have noticed it is hard to get these early 50c coins without some damage to the rims. IMO it doesn't detract too much. 1973 is perhaps the worst year IMO. The rims are often poorly struck and get damaged easily, this leads to a lot of scuff marks in the fields.

Wondering if I should take them out of the wallets and put them in 2x2 holders.Would be a lot of work as I have 15 UNC wallets and counting but probably a good idea

Yeah me too,it's a shame about the little scuffs & nicks on Her Majesty but the rims are perfect.

Compared to that MS66 this would have to me 69-70
Seriously tho MS 63-64, It's pretty rare you get these without banged up rims.
Sweet coin

It would have to be 64 or better AA. Its very nice. I dont think the scuffs detract too much.

Wow 266.50 ended..... Really surprised it got a 66 with rims like that, I have have heaps of 64's and 65's that are pretty much perfect, am I missing something ? Maybe the grader felt generous on that day lol
