The CFA met on the 15th of November and recommended designs for the Great Smoky Mountains (Tennessee), Shenandoah (Virginia), Arches (Utah), Great Sand Dunes (Colorado), and Everglades (Florida) America the Beautiful Quarters. Here are their choices: Great Smoky Mountains: Shenandoah: Arches: Great Sand Dunes: Everglades:

If they can pull of the Everglades, I might look at adding one of those in a 5 oz puck

Wow, I was really disappointed in our State Quarter when it came out and was weary about the Everglades (I live in northern Florida so I don't have much of an attachment to it but I suppose it makes the most sense for a state national park idea). But I will definitely be getting the silver proof and possibly one of the 5oz if they come out looking that good.

I love the TN and VA ones, will have to look at getting those in the pucks. Happy with all the choices though, Colorado could be the exception but what are you really going to do with sand dunes

There's something about that kid with the backpack on the Shenandoah one that makes me very, very mad. Otherwise, wonderful coins! I wish I could submit a design into the committee..... Anyone know how to do that?

tzarmarko, the committee didn't like the hiker either. Four of the five designs for that quarter had hikers, and the one they recommended has the least prominent one.

The hiker doesn't ruin it for me, but now that you mention it it would be better without

Total agreement about the hiker in the Shenendoah design. Also - why is it a male hiker? LADIES - LET'S HEAR IT!! The women should never stop screaming about that one.

Looks like another 25 oz of silver in 2014. The only question is, what will silver be then?

The only one I worry about is the sand dunes. Will you be able to tell they are sand dunes on the coin or will it look like another coin with mountains? (just add the mountain goat). Other than that I think they made good choices this year.
