Hello! Was digging in my back garden today with my plumber friend to replace a section of split pipe and I had the pleasant surprise of digging this up! Considering I live in a built up area in North London I thought it was simply a old halfpenny, it wasn't until I cleaned it up I realized it wasn't an old halfpenny but something much better...(and older.)It must of been around 3-4 foot down, measures around 24mm and weighs 2.11 grams, does anyone know what this unusual coin is?

It's not a coin, but rather an early "AVE MARIA" French-style jeton, or counting-board token. This Chicago Coin Club website is old but still has lots of good info on the history and use of jetons; figure 18 is not too dissimilar to yours, but has a modern-looking crown on it rather than the Crown of Charlemagne featured on yours. Yours probably likewise dates from around the 1300s-1400s, judging from the style of the lettering.

The central device on the first pic is called a châtel tournois. This jeton is a bit closer to the mark:

Thanks Sap and Philadelphian; Wow! a 14/15th century French jeton, I'm still quite shocked that it came from my garden!

It's so tempting; I might go over with the metal detector though.
