Ok so my coin shop mainly specializes in coins not paper money so I was looking thought the paper money and they only have normal silver certs and normal red seals and they are selling all of the paper money they have for $2 over face value I bought a 1928a $1 for $3 and a 1928 $5 for $7 and a 1963 $5 for $7 but should I buy the other red seals ( there are no more 1928s ) or any other silver certs? They mostly have 1960's $5's and $2's no $10 or higher

Sounds like a good deal to clean house. Book price shows VG at $7 for the 2's and at least $11.50 for the 5's.

So at 2 over face it sounds like something you should do

IMO - I would not buy a lot of common notes just because they seem like a good deal.

For me, I would be interested in some of them, if they were at least AU .. and I wanted one example each.

My advice ... focus on what you want in your collection ... and not just a accumulation.

I agree with GR58 -- Buy what you like. If you like the notes, it's a decent price. If you don't like them, don't stock up, because you probably won't make money at that price.

with GR58 as well. I have found out that my accumulation of similar notes (or coins) does not bring as much joy as variety, which is why I moved from series to type collecting.

Good point GR58, I was thinking along the line of flipping these notes to have a little extra for the next purchase 007 comes across and not for adding to the collection just cause its a deal. I personally am annoyed if I have two of the same note unless its a special s/n

Pick out the best, forget the rest. Unless you already bought them, then sell, sell, sell!
