Banks in my area will order them (usually 1 week turnaround time) without charge for bank customers, so I pay FV. This isn't the case everywhere - in some localities, banks charge for this "service." Check with your own bank(s).

Traditionally nickel boxes are $100 face. And I would tab a bank like Bank of America or Wells Fargo that has a Merchant Teller. They will have plenty of these boxes available and will not charge an extra fee for them.

When I ask for a box on nickels at one of my banks, they always give me a $100 in Customer Wrapped Rolls, CWR. I could specify that I only want Banked Wrapped Rolls, BWR, but I have found some great coins in the CWR. A couple of my banks like it when I take the CWR off their hands because otherwise they have to unroll it and put it in bags for the armored car service to pick up. If I start getting skunked on boxes of CWR, I just ask them to order a box of BWR for me.

After you are done searching them you can take them back to the bank. I normally will not take them back to the same bank where I picked them up. I have a couple of banks that I pick coins up from and one or two that I use as dump banks.

kookoox10 is correct and has great advise. I know my local BOA allows me to return my coins back to them in bags. They will also order BWR for me. This is one of the only banks that I will order and dump at the same bank. I have less that $250 in an account there. You may also check into getting an account at a local Credit Union. They seem to be very helpful most of the time.

I hope this helps. You should also read through many of the topics posted in this section. This is a great place to learn more about coins. I know it has helped me immensely.

I just started back doing nickels again and I did $200 yesterday, all but $40 were CWR's. I found in the past when I did nickels exclusively that the better finds were in BWR's, and usually Brinks (over 80 Buffalo nickels found in BWR's, only one in CWR's. Warnickels were about 75%-25% CWR's to BWR's). I started five years ago the "25,000 Rolls on Nickels" thread on CCF and burned out after 21,000 rolls. Just started up the hunt again; I want to finally finish what I started. Four thousand rolls to go!
