Why are you considering buying one or the other?
If you look at any chart, gold and silver track each other very closely over time. IMO, if silver is dead, gold isn't going anywhere either. Either they both will go up, or neither will.

Truth be told.. they're totally different ...
Gold is strictly a precious metal... 90% or greater of the gold that has been mined from the ground still exists in some form.. the same cannot be said of silver as it's also and industrial metal that is used in many ways from film to medical equipment.
If you look at historical charts there has been times where gold has had growth and silver has lagged or vice versa... hence why the the GSR has some volatility.
As it stands... gold has shown some REAL growth.....furthermore it's backed by many governments... the same cannot be said for silver.

So I did a trade with a buddy of mine and ended up adding a 1986 ASE proof with box and coa, and a 2013 west point ASE proofs set graded ms70. Pics next week when I have them in hand. |

I picked up a 1999, 2,000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 Austrialian Lunars from LCS. At $22 each, it seemed like a pretty good deal.  Edited by MontanaCMR

$22/ea is great deals for Lunar 1oz coins (I am buying them at $40/ea, just FYI). You did good.

I'm sure I've overpaid at times, especially for vintage poured bars.
That is the addicting part of the LCS; you never know what they will have, but ours pretty much just charges the same over spot, regardless.
My guess if I tried to sell these to a LCS they would probably just give me spot.

Yeah, LCS making profit base on high turn over rate. It's harder to find local buyer walking into the store and pay higher price. These are the bullion series that you should look for and are not over pay at such rate: 1) Perth Mint's Lunar Series (especially series I, from 1999) 2) China Mint's Panda (especially from 2006 and earlier). Good luck with your hunt. |
