Is there any way for you to take a bigger close-up of the MM? From where I'm sitting it looks like a D/D and worn dies. For .23c, you did good.

Looks like a D to me, with a doubling on the five cents and D. Or it could be the camera jiggled

My vote would be for a " D " also. I don't know what the value of them were 25 years ago, but you have certainly made money on this purchase.

I added two more photos, plus a third "comparison" photo of a normal mint mark and "Five Cents"

I see a D-mint mark in 1964 a 1929-D in ex-fine was worth $3.00 and in 2007 this coin in ex-fine is worth $32.00 so if you paid 23 cents "I WOULD SAY YOU DID JUST FINE".

I checked this thread earlier and I could not make out anything. I just had another look and I am sure I see an "s". Steve

At first I saw "S", then the "D/D" but as ow now, I cannot make out a single "D", either way, how can you go wrong for $0.23?

Well...for $0.23 I obviously couldn't go far wrong...but it's a bit of a pain to have a coin that cannot be attributed to either the Denver or San Francisco mint! I'm liking the interpretation of doubled mint mark and double "Five Cents" Now if I can convince a buyer of that! Acutally, I'm not looking to sell. I am not on my death bed, either, but still want to leave my wife and sons good notes on my coins and other collectables as to what they are and what their potential value might be.

Compare it to an S and you will see that the length in wrong to be an S,if you copy it to Photoshop and superimpose both D and S onto it you can see that only the D fits, and it is showing to be a double die on both Five cents and D.

Wow, I think you did pretty darn good! Can't go wrong for 23 cents! Looks like a D here also. At first it looked like an S, but looking closer looks like a D. Awesome buy! Phoenix
