Would someone really pay $10K for such a terribly damaged and cleaned coin?

Cleaning is easily a 50% cut. Severe damage like this would perhaps be 75%. So, at best, this would be worth 12.5% of Trends. But, that near zero eye appeal would probably kill it more.

Is this one of those not really intending to sell it on ebay coins? Any point trying to auction it?

Now, imagine if it were a G-4 1921 50c piece.

We should state what iot's worth to us.

I'd pay about 10%, say $2000 for it.

Who'd pay more?

No need to google gord. Asking questions and discussing coins is what this forum is all about.

I don't promote "whizzing" on coins, however, this is one coin that would be a perfect candidate for a whizz job from a Pro. The whizzing would soften the deep gouges and the fine hairlines from cleaning, then a two year stint on a window sill would retone it to look like a natural beauty again!
