G'day & welcome to CCF !
you've come to the correct place ... for sympathy and for advice.
I suggest that you trawl throught t5he Australian sub-fora of CCF, and initially focus on the decimal era (1966 to date), as they are the coins you'll encounter in circulation.
Sooner or later, you'll need a catalogue - either Renniks', or McDONALD's - each have their fans. And a good magnifying glass. Eventually you'll get a "loupe".
to get the most out of CCF, you'll need a digital camera, and you'll learn how to use it. CCF has a forum on photography, which I find very informative. The good thing about CCF is that we'd all rather spend our money on coins, so we tend to prefer less-expensive cameras, but we want results: value for money !
When your thirst for knowledge, and coins, is almost abated ... you'll discover "other" coins - pre-decimals; NCLT; and foreigners ... to mention just a few.
And don't overlook the CCF Glossary.

Hi Candace, to CCF. I'm assuming the pictured coin is $1, commemorating the 200 years since Australia was settled by Europeans. If it's in really nice condition or if you only have the one, by all means keep it, but if it's pretty knocked around, might as well spend it. Check it first for errors though. https://goccf.com/t/119643The 2005 MoR is often referred to as a mule, but as there were 6 Million of them minted, they're never going to make you rich. Originally a small number of them were minted by mistake and apparently the Mint decided rather than admit to their error, they'd just make a heap more of them, so that's what they did.

Not sure what it is about the pictured coin that you're asking about. If it's the sort of doubling from approx 3-7k, it's also very marginally off centre. I can't see anything else wrong with the coin.

Hello and welcome. Circular dints such as this are most often caused by coins being damaged in a slot machine or coin counter of some kind.

i been through my 20c and have found 8x claws, 6x 1966 but I dont think there one of the ones people want. 1x 2008 gap and 3 nearly gaps, 1x 2004 pointy A and I found a couple of other ones that might be collectable INCLUDING........... The Queen with a cold-sore which I thought was quiet funny :D

There are other things that you could look out for as well, such as other errors and low mintage coins. For example the 1972 5c coin is very difficult to find and I usually average 1 in every 1500 to 2000 coins. You could conduct a search on this forum using the search bar on the far left menu for terms such as clipped planchet, partial collar, broadstrike, Cud or die crack. There are many others but these are good ones to look out for.

They are all keepers IMO no matter how bad. I sold some really really bad ones on ebay and still got a couple bucks each from memory.
