I've been selling off some coins and have some '60's silver dollars that need to go, but I haven't had much interest on the bay... Is there just not much demand? I know that 80% silver content is probably a turn off to some? Any thoughts? I've always loved the look of Canadian currency. Edited by frankthetank 12/05/2012 12:28 pm

In bulk lots of 10, 20 or more, they seem to sell well as junk bullion.

I guess I ask because Canadian Maple Leafs seem to have a lot of demand, but I guess the almost pure silver content helps.
Small beads? I'll have to look through mine..doubt I'm that lucky!
I bought these awhile back, and only recently did I decide to get rid of some of them. I do have a few of the Totem pole dollars, which I like more then the goose/canoe. Around here (Wisconsin) I tend to come across a lot of Canadian coins in roll searching (usually pennies, dimes, quarters).

Morgan and Peace dollars in VF/EF are in demand for bullion. Many stores sell out as soon as they get them in. I would think the fact that Canadian Dollars are 80% hurts. Look at how hard it is to sell 40% silver.

How much were you listing them for?

AZ-
Listed at $.99, but very little interest in them. Maybe I need to target Canadian buyers! I'm just worried because I have more of them, but if I don't get anything out of auctioning them, i'll just see what the coin shop will do for me.
Don't see any small beads.
I'll have to dig around, but I might even have an older Canadian mint set...

Nowhere in wiki does it refer to silver dollars as loonies.I don't recall anyone ever calling them loonies 'til you posted this morning. It's equivalent to using the term..Susan B. Anthony greenbacks

I'll sell them as bullion in the future. They all have small scratches/etc.

I love canadian silver dollars, I buy them all the time, I don't know why the purity of them would drive away bullion investors, I mean you can get au/bu coins at about spot and in a far easier denomination to work with (.6oz ag)than american silver dollars. Plus the designs are very cool.
