Hey guys I recently came in contact with a person swho has an aluminium loonie.... I had it in hand and it looks exactly like a normal one... Only the metal is different...Now there is some damage to it but I was wondering if this is a counterfeit or perhaps a test token.....
I will post pics after..The guy wanted me to buy it first but has agreed to send me the pics ....

Any coin made of aluminum will be noticeably lighter than the same coin with a normal composition.

You should send it to SPP for analysis; it could be aluminum plated chocolate.

kind of like the time I purchased 100 world coins made of aluminum. when the package came it was no heavier than 20 average size loonies. haha aluminum coins are silly.

An aluminum loonie should weigh about 2 grams.
More than likely it was struck on a foreign planchet, with an exact weight someone with data for non Canadian coins struck by the mint that year may be able to determine exactly what it is.
