Was glancing through some coins and seen this. I can tell its obviously an S I'm just not sure what could cause this. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated of course thanks everyone

Not an S, just contact damage. Your mind is just trying to pick out a pattern from the noise, there are no other Ss on a Washington quarter that are that small.

I agree it is just damage to the coin and has nothing to do with the die.
