El Caz Question

I am always liking all the 8 reale coins and info that I see here on this site. My thanks to all of you who share your knowlege!

I was at the coin shop the other day and they had a 1770 El Cazador for sale. It looked suspect to me. Now for my newbie questions. Are there 1770 El Caz peices of eight? It has been my assumption that Carlos should be on one side and only later dates would be found with this wreck.

Also, can anyone post a pic of what the edge of a genuine 1770 should look like.

I love the El Cazs theyre neat....also a little dark if they wouldve made it to the us lol

A 1770 8 reales would be of the Pillar design with a "tulip design" on the edge. There were various dates found on the Cazador wreck though the majority of the coins were all 1783 Portrait dollars.
