Great to see that the forum is providing us with so many varied views and extra information that would not normally be availble to the man in the street. Some great grading comments have been added to this post. Interestingly the coin appears to have been passed in at the Noble auction.

Buying high grade coins on ebay is always a case of "buyer beware", only a fool would blindly accept the grading assigned by the seller. The cv for a UNC - Choice UNC is $4250 - $8250 and I cant see this coin selling for anywhere near that.

Okey Dokey ..... perhaps we can drool about this one ? Any ideas on the shadow crescent between the emu and rim? A couple of marks I can see (behind roo), rim near right scroll and a tiny one above I in BRITT. Seems to be a newcomer to the ebay coin market, but with something nice. From the writeup perhaps some items from a nice collection are coming. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1910-EDWARD...61158782982?

True Stevo, (just checked my accounts and I still need around $6460 ). Drooling is inexpensive though. You were one of the members who I knew would appreciate it! (And it's not even a repat coin!) I'd also imagine oh_my_florin (OMF) would like it too, but would likely have to become IMF to do so. Should be interesting to see if it sells by offer!

Wow x 3 or 4 times.! What a great opportunity for someone to score some superb coins (and for the rest of us to view them). However IMO there must be some sadness in splitting up such an extensive collection.! As stated this is one mans lifelong project.! Perhaps one positive is many should be slabbed in the near future thereby protecting the quality and heritage.! What a shame we will never have an opportunity to view the collection in its entirety.! That alone would have been worth a trip interstate.!

The only thing I can see wrong with the florin is the distinct difference in colour between the area in and around 'TWO SHILLINGS' and the field between it and the emu. There seems to be lustre in the legend but not in the field. Maybe it was dipped around there?

Yes enworb , that was the section I was (poorly) trying to refer to with my comment: Quote: Any ideas on the shadow crescent between the emu and rim? I think I was still in awe of seeing the coin and lost the ability to put thought into type
