I am thinking that this is the "Hearing Aid" die clash but I am not 100% sure. Could any of the clash experts here please confirm if it is for me? Many thanks.

I hadn't seen those before....very helpful. So I am guessing then that I do have a clash from the stem and the leaf. This one almost slipped through the cracks! Thanks!

Thats a nice clash for sure - but the "hearing aids" lm used to seeing look more like an oblong "plug' in the ear . . . maybe lve misidentified mine ?

No, I don't think so. I've heard (and got a few of) the same, DvntMstr. I've seen a few of what Smallcentguy is talking about though, mostly in the nickels, but I haven't heard of them being referred to any particular nickname -- just a die clash. Maybe both are known as "hearing aids"?

I pulled out one that I had in a CCCS holder....I will post a photo later....and it is the same clash. The one in the CCCS holder is not as nice a coin at all, but the clash is more distinct. The clash is in the exact same position although the part of the "hearing aid" below the ear is much clearer.

Well here is a photo of my CCCS hearing aid coin....I had forgotten I had this. The clash is in exactly the same position as the one in the first posting here and suggested in the photos in the link in the second posting. This has a particularly scrtached up holder so the photo isn;t the greatest. The clash here is more distinct, but the coin is two grade levels lower.

The clash line is in pretty much the same place but it appears the metal bulge is to the left of the line on yours and the right on mine. I am guessing that the term "hearing aid" is a pretty colloquial term and probably applies to both. Explaining the position of the bulge goes way beyond capability I am afraid!

Ahh, that explains it, Smallcentguy. The "hearing aid" varieties I've seen have always been on the left side, like in DvntMstr's photo. But I can see how the same-shaped clash with a subtle shift in position would have the same name. Now I get to go back through my collection and see if I have any "right side hearing aids"!
