It looks like Abe has on some vintage lenses. Add a hearing aid and you have my grandfather.

Has some corrosion issues, in a bad spot, I would try veri-care but
it may be to late.

Thad, do all the earlier Lincolns have 'soft' dies?

We, never seem to agree on grades on some of the earlier ones....just wondering where you can see EF on this coin, I was going to say, VF but, I didn't think the wheat's were strong enough.

No they don't. In fact, the 09 VDB's are normally sharp since the dies were fresh. This coin has clear separation between the cheek and jaw and is therefore at least technical VF. Other than a couple rim dings, this coin is pretty much free of any major hits. The wheat lines are fully defined....the next thing to look at is the wheat kernels. In this case, they are well defined and show some, but not a lot, of wear. Other than a little gunk, the coin has nice eye appeal which is why I bumped it to EF. A TPG could very well put this into a VF30-35 slab...it's a close call.

Not to late, this is a perfect candidate for VC. It's not a high dollar coin and it would be helped with a quick VC treatment. In fact, I think it'd be a real nice coin minus some of the gunk.

OK, so here is my post conservation pics. I did a quick dip in acetone, followed by a couple of hrs in distilled water, and then verdicare with light toothpick pressing. I could not soak it in verdicare because I do not have enough to soak in (need to get more). I put a drop on and used a toothpick and microfiber cloth dabbing.

I am considering another acetone soak followed by a verdicare soak for a day (when I get more verdicare:)

What do you think?
