Crawdad New Member United States 3 Posts	Posted 12/07/2012 08:44 am I'm having trouble finding any information about this coin. The only info I've found on a 5G is that of a 1912 mintage. Rdwarrior Valued Member United States 266 Posts	Posted 12/09/2012 10:48 am I have done some searching and I also find nothing on this coin, you probably have what is sometimes called a "fantasy piece" . It cannot be called a counterfeit or a fake since there never was an original coin of this type. The only other possibility is that you have a pattern piece, they did do a 10 Gluden coin of this design in that year. From what I could tell a 5 Gluden should weigh 3.3599 grams and have a diameter of 18mm. Report this Post to the Staff

But first you would have to ascertain weather such a pattern was ever produced. Start by getting an accurate weight It looks like I was incorrect on the above weight. 5 Gluden pieces were struck by the Netherlands 1826 through 1851 at a weight of 3.3645 grams according to Krause. The 10 Gluden struck in 1897 had a weight of 6.7290 grams. If the weight of yours does not match up, you have a forgery of some type. If it does, then you have a real mystery on your hands, Good Luck. Report this Post to the Staff
