It looks much better than very fine, at least AU to me with possibly removed from jewelry looking at the markings near Lewis and Ore.

Net EF-45 from jewelry...$750+ value....congrats!
They made about 10,000 for two years 1904 & 1905
90% gold content, about 1.67 grams gold
worth much more than melt!

Finally got the coin in hand...

There is actually no evidence of it being previously mounted besides those spots mentioned. Not on the reeding or any marks at all actually. I would assume a mount would leave some sort of mark on the soft gold.

but geez, it's one tiny coin!

epikur, I thought the same thing when I received my first gold coin. I thought they had sent me the wrong one by mistake, the one I bought was much bigger in the picture. Lesson learned.

well I could have done some math and figure out that 1.7 grams isn't a whole lot. This one needs to get slabbed soon or It's going to get lost somehow.

Really pretty piece of history

Congratulations on your ms grading. My grandmother had one of these and when I was a young boy I able to see it and tell her of it's value. She then sold it but gave me another coin, an 1853 gold dollar.
