Ok, this is gonna somewhat contradict itself. Is searching coinstar machines really worth it? I mean really worth it? Second of all. I have read that the return dump is in an inconspicuous spot and I've never knowingly even saw one. Soooooo, where's it at?

Short answer is no. If you pass by one anyway it cant hurt to look but its all pure luck if you find anything or not and going out of your way to do so will almost be assured to be a huge waste of time

Quote: Short answer is no. I wouldn't drive around town to 6 different stores just to check the Coinstars. If I walk by one in the store, however, I WILL check!

I check every one I pass by as I am out and about on my normal business, but I don't make it a habit if there is a Safeway next to the BofA I am at to run in to check the machine.

I usually check if I happen to pass by one but won't drive to one just to check it.

The only thing I ever found was a bent and dissolved dime

I found somebody else's rejects once: a 1998 dime, three pennies from the 1990s and a 1966.
You may call this a waste of time. I say hey, I could almost buy a pack of gum with that!

I always look at the reject bin on my way out of the local supermarket. It paid off this week with a 1964 dime.

I found a token(no cash value)and a copper slug before, as others said if I pass one I will look. I also always check ATM's, found $20 sitting in the tray once.

I'd make a job of it if checking Coinstar was fruitful. But a find is uncommon. I've hit on three silver dimes in five years. I always check when I'm in the supermarket. But what is "the return dump"?

I always check and today it paid off! Found a 1957 silver Rosie! Don't find anything most of the times, but this was my best so far.

I've scored some silver and it doesn't take much effort - worth it in my book.

Found a 1959 D Roosevelt in the Coinstar reject slot yesterday. That's three silver Roosevelts since New Year's day. YOu can't miss the whiteness of the coin when you go looking. It's a great thrill to find free silver. Makes a trip to the grocery store worthwhile. I've accumulated 5 silver dimes in 11 months. But how come these people redeeming change don't check the reject bin?

i work at a grocery store and I check the reject bin on my way and out from work and also on my breaks, I got the cashier in on it since her stand is right behind the coinstar I told her id give a dollar for each dime she finds and 2 dollars for each quarter she finds.
she only cares about the quick cash and not the resell value of the silver itself
