I have looked through around 1.3 million cents since 1971 and only recently found one 1970-S SD. John1

When I lived in California, and back when 70-S cents averaged about 3 per roll, I never found one in ~10 years of searching. My luck changed when I started looking at 70-S cents cut from mint sets in dealer stock--much better success rate!

Found mine while "searching" an antique shop...it was in a album I bought for 20 bucks. It was in a "Variety" hole in it. I got lucky.. Its probably MS64/65

I'm with Dr. Don. Lotsa years and no 70 S sd finds. I search 2 boxes of cents a week and still looking. Maybe someday. Of course I have found wams, copper cents, rpms, ddos & ddrs. I hope 70 S small dates are coming.

Never found one in the wild. Have one in a proof set and one in a mint set both cherrypicked at shows.

Bought 2 at auction 20 years ago. Found one in rolls since. I think this variety is alot scarcer than we think.

According to a study by Chuck Daughtrey, the ratio of LD to SD is about 40 to 1 as far as production. What's left in circulation is a different matter.
